My project for three years now has been mapping the history of my mountain neighborhood. When I'm not running or biking directly on the Switzerland Trail, I'm certainly thinking about it, reviewing my work, planning my next steps, writing my next journal note.
At the moment I have in my queue a note on a run from Wolfram, through Lakewood, into Caribou Ranch Open Space, stopping at Anson (shown here) and Blue Bird Mine, and on beyond, across North Boulder Creek into the Como Creek Valley. What a great exploration, so full of rich learnings I barely know what to write about first.
I wonder how many journal entries it will take for me to tell the story of just this one eight-mile run.
I can't think of many ways much nicer to spend an autumn morning.
